Manolis Koubarakis
Faculty of Informatics and Telecommunications, NKUA
He is a Professor in the Department of Informatics and Telecommunications of the University of Athens.
He previously held positions at the Dept. of Electronic and Computer Engineering, Technical University of Crete (Assistant and Associate Professor), the Dept. of Informatics, University of Athens (Visiting Researcher), Dept. of Computation, UMIST (Lecturer) and Dept. of Computing, Imperial College, London (Research Associate). He joined the Dept. of Informatics and Telecommunications in September 2005.
He hold a Ph.D. in Computer Science, from the National Technical University of Athens, an M.Sc. in Computer Science, from the University of Toronto, and a diploma (B.Sc.) in Mathematics, from the University of Crete.
He has published more than 100 papers that have been widely cited in the areas of Artificial Intelligence (especially Knowledge Representation), Databases, Semantic Web and P2P Computing. His research has been financially supported by the European Commission (projects CHOROCHRONOS, DIET, BRIDGEMAP, Evergrow, OntoGrid and SemsorGrid4Env), the Greek General Secretariat for Research and Technology and industry sources (Microsoft Research, British Telecommunications etc.).
He has served in the program committee of various international conferences and workshops and he has organized various international events. He is a member of ACM, AAAI and the Computer Society of IEEE.
